If You Obey and Fear Allah, He Will Grant You Furqaan

In the Name of Allaah, the Extremely Merciful, the Bestower of Mercy

«O you who believe! If you obey and fear Allah, He will grant you Furqaan, and will expiate for you your sins, and forgive you; and Allah is the Owner of the great bounty.» [Al-Anfaal 8:29]

Ibn `Abbaas, As-Suddi, Mujaahid, Ikrimah, Ad-Dahhak, Qataadah, Muqaatil bin Hayyan and several others said that, «Furqaan», means, “a way out”; Mujaahid added, “In this life and the Hereafter.'' In another narration, Ibn `Abbaas is reported to have said, , «Furqaan» means “salvation” or -- according to another narration – “aid”. Muhammad bin Is-haaq said that «Furqaan» means “criterion between truth and falsehood”. This last explanation from Ibn Is-haaq is more general than the rest that we mentioned, and it also includes the other meanings. Certainly, those who have Taqwa of Allah by obeying what He ordained and abstaining from what He forbade will be guided to differentiate between the truth and the falsehood. This will be a triumph, safety and a way out for them from the affairs of this life, all the while acquiring happiness in the Hereafter. They will also gain forgiveness, thus having their sins erased, and pardon, thus having their sins covered from other people, as well as, being directed to a way to gain Allah's tremendous rewards,

«O you who believe! Have Taqwa of Allah, and believe in His Messenger, He will give you a double portion of His mercy, and He will give you a light by which you shall walk (straight). And He will forgive you. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.»
[Al-Hadeed 57:28]

Supplicating for an Unbeliever

‘Uqbah b. ‘Âmir Al-Juhanî – Allâh be pleased with him – once passed by a man who looked like a Muslim, so he greeted him with salâm, and he replied, “And upon you [be peace] and the mercy of Allâh and His blessings.” A boy informed him, “He is a Christian!” So ‘Uqbah got up and followed the man, caught up with him and said, The mercy of Allâh and His blessings are upon the believers; however, may Allâh give you a long life, and make plentiful your wealth and offspring.” [Al-Bukhârî, Al-Adab Al-Mufrad]

Shaykh Al-Albânî grades its chain of narration hasan in Sahîh Al-Adab Al-Mufrad p444, and notes,
“In this narration this illustrious Companion indicates that it is permissible to supplicate for someone to have a long life, even if he is an unbeliever, and so [this can be done for] a Muslim a fortiori…However, the supplicant should make sure that the unbeliever is not an enemy of the Muslims. It is also taken from this [narration] that such an unbeliever can be commiserated with what has been mentioned therein [i.e. the believers are the ones who will receive the mercy of Allâh and His blessings].”

The Rust of the Heart

Ibn ul-Qayyim (rahimahullaah) said:
“There is no doubt that the heart becomes covered with rust, just as metal dishes – silver, and their like – become rusty. So the rust of the heart is polished with dhikr (remembrance of Allaah), for dhikr polishes the heart until it becomes like a shiny mirror. However, when dhikr is abandoned, the rust returns; and when it commences then the heart again begins to be cleansed. Thus the heart becoming rusty is due to two matters: sins and ahafah (neglecting remembrance of Allaah). Likewise, it is cleansed and polished by two things: istighfaar (seeking Allaah’s forgiveness) and dhikr.”

Do These Three and Attain Three Houses in Paradise in shaa' Allaah

Narrated Aboo Umaamah (radhiy'Allaahu `anhu), the Messenger (sall'Allaahu `alayhi wasallam) said:
"I am a guarantor for a house on the outskirts of Paradise for whosoever leaves off arguing, even if he is in the right; and a house in the center of Paradise for whosoever abandons falsehood, even when joking; and a house in the upper-most part of Paradise for whosoever makes his character good."

Advise Your Brother in Private and Do Not Unveil His Screen

Abdullaah ibn al-Mubaarak, may Allaah have mercy upon him, stated:
“Whenever a man would see something from his brother that he dislikes, he would give him orders in private and forbid him in private. Conversely, he would be rewarded for him screening his brother and also rewarded for forbidding evil. As for today, whenever a man sees what he dislikes he angers his brother and unveils his screen.”

Beautiful Advice to the Women Concerning Treatment of Their Husbands - Shaykh Jamaal al-Haarithi

Sheikh Jamaal al-Haarithi, may Allaah preserve him, said,
"So when you understand and have certainty, oh Muslim woman, in respect to the obligations which you have concerning your husband, then it is upon you to seek various ways to please him-so if one path is exhausted, then pursue another newly created path, such that he will experience joy and contentment and then this will be returned back to you because of what he is experiencing of rest and peace of mind in his house after the difficulty and fatigue which he meets outside of the home."

Abridged: Look at What Boldness Upon Bid'ah and Misguidance Led To

In The Name of Allaah, The Most Merciful, The Bestower of Mercy
Abu Moosaa Muhammad Ibnul Muthannaa said:
We used to read to a blind Shaikh, so when the (innovated) speech about the Qur’aan being created occurred in Baghdad the Shaikh said: If the Qur’aan is not created, then may the Qur’aan be wiped off my heart (i.e. from my memory).”  He (Abu Moosaa) said: When we heard this speech of his, we abandoned him and turned away from him.  After some time period we met him and said to him: “O such and such, what did the Qur’aan do?” He said: “Nothing of it remains in my chest (i.e. in my memory).’’  We said: ’Not even قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ? He said: ‘’Not even قُلْ هُوَ اللَّهُ أَحَدٌ  except when I hear it being recited by someone else.”
